Tam, kde legendární Zlatá stezka z Pasova do Prachatic nabízí poslední pohled na Volary, se nachází volarská křížová cesta. V časech baroka tu, ve svazích vrchu Kamenáče, dal Jakub Pinsker z Volar vystavět lesní kapli Bičovaného Spasitele. Za kopcem stával u cesty památný morový sloup...
Restaurátorské práce J. Koreckého a L. Hosnedla provedené v roce 2008 se zaměřily především na nejpůsobivější zastavení č. 12 a 14, a zahrnují tyto zásahy: vysoký kamenný kříž byl doplněn o vrcholovou část a osazen sochou Krista, podstavce soch byly nakonzervovány, socha Ježíše Krista v Božím hrobě restaurována, výklenek opatřen kovanou mříží, doplněn byl kříž nad hrobem, osazeno kamenné klekátko, vyrovnány a očištěny kamenné desky před skalkou. Nový nátěr dostala i barokní kaple ve spodní partii křížové cesty.
