Košický dóm svaté Alžběty Uherské je pozdně gotická trojlodní stavba 60 m dlouhá a 36 m široká, s příčnou lodí uprostřed své délky a se dvěma věžemi v průčelí. Stavěla se od konce 14. století do roku 1506. <br><br>Metropolitní katedrála je zároveň "nejvýchodnější" gotická katedrála v Evropě, největším kostelem a také nejvýznamnější kulturní památkou Slovenska. <br><br>Dóm byl postaven na místě bývalého farního kostela zasvěceného sv. Alžbětě Uherské, který existoval nejpozději již od 13. století, který ale v roce 1370 vyhořel. <br><br>Výstavba chrámu trvala v období medzi rokmi 1380 až 1508. Velká část stavby byla realizována v době Zikmunda Lucemburského českého i uherského krále….<br><br>Dóm dostal své pojmenování podle svaté Alžběty Uherské. Žila v 13. století a byla známa svojí skromností. Během svého života pomohla mnoha lidem, proto se ji rozhodli vysvětit. Zemřela mladá ve 24 letech. <br>
