<b>Toruň </b>leží v severním Polsku, ve vojvodství Kujavsko-pomořském, a vedle Bydhoště je jedním z jeho dvou hlavních měst. Bylo založeno na březích řeky Visly a díky obchodu se solí vzkvétalo již od svých počátků. Toruň je nejen jedním z nejstarších polských měst, ale rovněž rodištěm slavného polského astronoma Mikuláše Koperníka. Díky jedinečně dochovanému vnitřnímu městu byla Toruň zapsána v roce 1997 na seznam UNESCO a o deset let později se stala součástí Seznamu sedmi polských divů.<br>Ve 13. století Získali město pod svůj vliv Němečtí rytíři, kteří kvůli častým povodním přesunuli centrum Starého města do dnešní polohy, pozvali do města mnišské řády františkánů a dominikánů a založili zde významnou hanzu obchodující se solí.
