Moravian-Silesian Beskids is mountain range in eastern part of the Czech Republic. Large part of mountains is protected Landscape Area - similar degree of environmental protection to national Park.
First images are from Lysá hora, highest mountain of the range (1328 m). Lysá hora, despite its often harsh weather, is an ideal view point from where you can observe large area of Moravia, Silesia and even Slovakia and Poland. On the top of the mountain is located weather-station, telecommunication tower and several mountain huts. Thanks to its good snow conditions and appropriate infrastructure is Lysá hora also popular destination of winter sports.
Images from Lysá hora - in english "Bald mountain" because its top lies over tree line - show Moravian-Silesian Beskids, views of slovak and polish Carpathians as well as densily populated lowlands of the north-east part of the Czech Republic.
After night photography of Milky way follow images from other beautiful places of mountains: Bílý kříž (white cross) - a mountain saddle on the Czech-Slovak frontier, locality of Ondřejník with chapel and small tourist resort over town Frýdlant nad Ostravicí and people bathing in rapids of river Ostravice.
Gallery continues again with pictures of Lysá hora, this time you can see evening images from Visalaje tourist resort.
Last destination of this gallery is locality of Gruň, large meadowy ridge with long tradition of shepherding and from 19th century on also with tradition with tradition of local culture and tourism. Of course, from Gruň you can see again Lysá hora and also peaks of Malá Fatra mountains in Slovakia.
Our visit of this beautiful landscape ends again with image of Milky way. Why? Because in the core area of Moravian-Silesian Beskids lies "Beskid region of dark sky". This region has been established to protect area with dark sky, which is unique to this part of Europe, because all arround lie densily populated areas with luminous smog, which complicates all kinds of astronomical observations.
