Fort 39 "Olszanica" byl součástí Tvrze Kraków. Fort náležel do obranného systému Tvrze Kraków, která měla bránit dolinu řeky Rudawy. Fort byl budován v letech 1884-1885 jako pěchotní fort, bez těžkých děl. V roce 1910 byl přebudován na stálý fort blízké obrany. Posádka fortu byla vyzbrojena těžkými kulomety a pěchotními zbraněmi, popř. lehkými zákopovými děly. Ochranu fortu zabezpečovaly i dvě dělostřelecké baterie FB 40a a FB 40b, nacházejících se na křídle daného fortu.<br>
