Mit der Eröffnung des Fernbahnhofs Wilhelmshöhe 1991 verlor Kassels Hauptbahnhof an Bedeutung. Das Gebäude wird heute weitgehend als Ausstellungsort und Kulturzentrum genutzt. Auf dem weitläufigen, nach dem 2007 verstorbenen Verleger Rainer Dierichs benannten Vorplatz stellte die Stadt die Skulptur Man Walking to the Sky auf, die Jonathan Borofsky auf der DOCUMENTA IX zeigte.<br><a target="_blank" Dan" target="_blank">href="https://documenta-fifteen.de/lumbung-member-kuenstlerinnen/dan-perjovschi/">Dan Perjovschi</a> bezieht sich mit seiner Arbeit auf dem Rainer-Dierichs-Platz auf sein Werk <i>Horizontal Newspaper</i>, an dem er seit 2010 in seinem rumänischen Heimatort Sibiu arbeitet.
