We flew to Roatan Island. Roatan Island is in the Caribbean with unspoilt beaches and jungle interior. The Carambola Botanical Gardens & the nearby Butterfly Gardens are worthwhile visiting. We returned to Honduras mainland by ferry. Copan Ruinas is a compact town with good tourist facilities. Its as easy walk from the town to the Copan Mayan ruins. The Copan ruins are in a beautiful setting, the Mayan temples & ball courts and other artifacts are awe inspiring whilst the museum is very good. There's plenty of wildlife, we managed to photograph wild birds near the ruins entrance, for example Montezuma oropendola, Altimira Oriole, many playfull Macaws, Flycatcher, Woodpecker, pidgeon., etc. We also saw Hiatas near the entrance.
