Our visit to Equador was nearly aborted when the Pichincha volcano in Quito erupted, closing down the airport. Our hotel still had the windows taped when we arrived and volcanic ash was on window sills. Other places visited in Equador were Cayambe, Otavalo markets, Laguna de Cuicocha, Cayambe volcano, San Antonio and la Mitad de Mondo (middle of the world) which is on the equator.
