Dharamsala is a hill station in Himachal Pradesh. Upper Dharamsala, known more commonly as McLeod Ganj is home to the Tibetan community centred around the activities of the Dalai Lama and is the headquarters of Central Tibetan Administration (the Tibetan government in exile). The Tsuglagkhang Complex has the largest Tibetan temple outside Tibet, with a large meditation hall containing beautiful statues and thangkas. It is the monastery of the Dalai Lama.
There's a pleasant walk from McLeod Ganji to Bhagsu waterfalls where we photographed Verditer Flycatcher, Great Tit, White-capped Water Restart, Grey Bushchat, Grey-hooded Warbler, Blue Whistling Thrush, wild flowers & a monkey. At the start of this walk is Hanuman & Ganasha shrines in front of a swimming pool constructed by the 1st Gorkha Rifles.
At Lower Dharamsala in the Kangra Valley is the Norbulingka complex, built in a traditional Tibetan style, its aim is to preserve Tibetan art & culture by training, educating & employing Tibetans.
