Our next base was Kalbarri, for exploring the Kalbarri National Park and its famed wildflower displays (refer Coral Coast Wildflower folder). We have memories (but no photos) of a lovely fish & chip dinner and watching Pelican feeding. In the Kalbarri National Park we went to Nature's Window, looked down on the Bend in the Murchison River, views from the Z Bend, Hawks Head and Ross Graham Lookouts. At coastal Kalbarri NP, came across Fossilised burrows of extinct worm-like creatures called Skolithos, visited Mushroom Rock, Eagle Gorge Lookout and saw the Natural Bridge and Island Rock formations. From the Kalbarri cliffs, watched a whale breaching & another whale with its calf. At Port Gregory viewed the Pink Lakes and then onto our next base: Geraldton. The Geraldton murals are interesting & the Chapman River trail worth exploring. Surrounding places visited include Greenough and Wirnda Ngadara (leaning tree). Wildlife spotted: Long Nose Dragon lizard, Dragon fly, Orb Spider & web, Damsel fly, birds: Black Swans, Pelican, Avocet, Stilt, Darter, Honeyeater, Willy Wagtail and Magpie Lark.
