Australian Magpie birds Golden Whistler Granite Skywalk Land bird Porongurups WAtrip Western Australia
We headed inland to see the Porongurup National Park. The park has massive ancient granite domes (Pluton) with Balancing Rocks and the Granite Skywalk suspended from Castle Rock - an adventurous climb with great views from the top. Tip: before the steel ladder to the Skywalk platform are large boulders blocking path, instead of scrambling over do what kids do, crawl underneath. Birds photographed here were the Australian Magpie and Golden Whistler. The Karri forests grow near the peaks, Marri, Jarrah & Yate on the lower slopes. There's good forest drives in & around the park with nature walks at Tree in the Rock and Twin Peaks Nature Reserve - here we saw flocks of Baudin's Cockatoo at dusk.
