Leaving Duke of Orleans, we crossed Salt Lakes at Salmon Gums before reaching Norseman, once an important gold mining town. The 1200klm drive on the Eyre Highway from Norseman across the "empty" Nullabor Plain has only Road Houses for fuel, food & accommodation. On the way, you drive on the 90 Mile straight (Australia's longest straight road), see eagles & crows devour road kill, could play the Nullabor Links 18-hole golf course spanning 1,365klms, visit the historic Eucla Telegraph Station, view spectacular Bunda Cliffs & the Great Australia Bight, the windmill museum at the small town of Penong (about 200 people). The quarantine check point for South Australia is at Ceduna (restrictions on taking fruit & vegetables into South Australia).
