37 Eyre Peninsular west coast bird jetty WAtrip
Ceduna, South Australia (about 2500 residents) was our first major settlement after crossing the Nullarbor. The town has sheltered sandy beaches and foreshore lined with Norfolk Island Pines. Nearby is the deep-sea port of Thevenard which exports grain, salt, mineral sand and gypsum. From Ceduna, there's two ways to go: inland to Port Augusta or what we did, drive around the Eyre Peninsular coast. We stopped for lunch at Smokey Bay then onto Streaky Bay to drive the the Cape Bauer loop, to see Halley's Beach, the Whistling Rocks & the blowholes. Next day, via Sceale Bay, visited the Seal-lion colony at Point Labatt. Crossing the Calca Peninsular, had short photo stops at Murphy's Haystacks, Port Kenny & Venus Bay. The Talia Cave tourist drive took us to the Woolshed Cave & the Tub. At Elliston we drove around the coastal trail for stunning coast views & walked their historic jetty. Next morning, watched impressive surf breaking at the mouth of Waterloo Bay from Wellington Point before leaving for Coffin Bay.
