With an impromptu stop at Brasilia - Brazil's capital founded in 1960, we only had time to walk around its main plaza: Praça dos Três Poderes and to the Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora Aparecida. Birds spotted during our walk: Black vulture, Rufous Hornero, Creamy-bellied Thrush & Yellow-chevroned Parakeet. Manaus dates back to 1699, & during it's rubber boom time was known as "Paris of the Tropics" with buildings such as the Teatro Amazonas which we visited. We also went to its port & visited the markets & saw the Confluence of the Rio Negro & the Amazon River. Birds spotted: Azure-shouldered tanager.
