HighAtlasMountains keep
AROUMD is a small Berber village in the Ait Mizane Valley of the High Atlas Mountains, about 40 minutes' walk up the valley from Imlil. An extraordinary looking place, built on a huge moraine spur above the valley. Steep-tiered fields of potatoes, onions, barley and various kinds of fruit line the valley sides. Several houses have been converted to well-equipped gîtes for local trekking. Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m) in the High Atlas mountains links the great Marrakech Plains to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara Desert.
