Life in the cities, towns & villages is similar to many African nations whilst the issues of urban blight as found in other societies is increasing in line with Ethiopian prosperity. Tuk-tuks (or “Indians” as they are known in Ethiopia) are the main public transport in towns. Donkey’s are used for local goods transport. Firewood is still used for cooking. Harar maintains its unique Islamic style within its old city walls.
