Letos poprvé zcela pod taktovkou akciové společnosti Kristýna proběhlo tradiční odemykání a otevírání Kristýny. Starosta města spolu se svým protějškem, primátorem Žitavy, statečně vstoupili do vod jezera, které tou dobou měly teplotu asi tak devět stupňů. Víla Kristýnka, co nám stále mládne, zapůjčila na okamžik svůj klíč, aby mohla být hladina Kristýny řádně odemčena. Přímo z vody celý obřad sledovali a hlasitě fandili místní otužilci. Pro ně sezóna naopak končí, tak si alespoň při té příležitosti pořádně zaplavali až na jedno z nových plovoucích mol.
