Dresden Hauptbahnhof ist der größte Personenbahnhof der sächsischen Landeshauptstadt Dresden. Er ersetzte 1898 den Böhmischen Bahnhof der einstigen Sächsisch-Böhmischen Staatseisenbahn und war von vornherein mit seiner repräsentativen Gestaltung als zentraler Bahnhof der Stadt konzipiert. Bis heute einzigartig ist die Kombination aus Insel- und Kopfbahnhof in zwei verschiedenen Ebenen, die insbesondere Reisenden an den Kopfgleisen der unteren Ebene kurze Umsteigewege ermöglichen sollte. Eine Besonderheit des Bauwerks ist die mit einer teflonbeschichteten Glasfaser-Membran überzogene Hallenkonstruktion, die in den Jahren 2000 bis 2006 nach einem Entwurf des britischen Architekten Norman Foster realisiert wurde. Der Hauptbahnhof verknüpft im Eisenbahnknoten Dresden die Strecken Dresden-Neustadt–Děčín und Dresden–Werdau (Sachsen-Franken-Magistrale) miteinander, die sowohl den Verkehr nach Prag und Südosteuropa, als auch nach Chemnitz und weiter in Richtung Nürnberg ermöglichen. Die Anbindung der Strecken in Richtung Leipzig und Görlitz erfolgt dagegen im Bahnhof Dresden-Neustadt; die Anbindung der Strecke in Richtung Berlin am Bahnhof Dresden Mitte.
