Dne 17.9.2017 se uskutečnil 20. ročník cyklistického závodu Memoriál Oldřicha Máchy. Závod organizoval Závodní cyklistický team JKF, z.s. Jaroměř, s ředitelem závodu Jiřím Fryntou, v areálu podzemních chodeb (dolík) a parku v Josefově. Pro předškoláky a školáky byl dopoledne odstartován závod na 250m a 2 km, v poledne vyjeli na trať dlouhou 5 km kadeti a maesters. <br>Oldřich Mácha, délesloužící desátník 1. cyklistického praporu Jaroměř, se při cvičení na josefovské promenádě vsadil dne 28.5.1934 se svým kamarádem, sloužícím u stejného praporu, že sjede na kole po schodech vedoucích poblíž pravoslavné kaple sv. Jiljí k řece Metuji. Sázku vyhrál, ale při dalším sjezdu ztratil vládu nad kolem a po několika přemetech se těžce zranil na hlavě. Ještě téhož dne v divizní nemocnici zemřel. Dne 31.5.1934 mu byl vypraven okázalý pohřeb z voj. nemocnice a na hrob mu příslušníci cyklistického praporu dali na svůj náklad postavit pomník. Místo jeho posledního odpočinku na josefovském pevnostním hřbitově pravidelně po dlouhých 60 let pravidelně navštěvoval jeho kamarád, který s ním uzavřel nešťastnou sázku.<br>
