Račice nad Trotinou byly prvně zmíněny r.1222, kdy byly založeny a osídleny opatovickým klášterem. Vedla tudy stezka z Prahy do Náchoda. Vystřídala se tu řada majitelů. R.1975 byl zrušen MNV a admin. spadala obec pod Hořiněves. Od r.1990 se opět osamostatnily. V letech 1939 - 1945 se v lesích nedaleko obce začala stavět továrna na výrobu tanků (nasazena česká intelitgence a místo se nazývalo "Na galejích"). Také se tu ukrývali tři angličtí uprchlíci ze zajateckého tábora, obyvatelé obce je zásobovali potravinami a jeden račický občan byl odměněn anglickým královským vyznamenáním.<br>Na statku Frantov se ukrývala skupina ruských zajatců.<br>
