Žireč je částí města Dvůr Králové nad Labem. Obec má dlouhou a zajímavou historii. V místě nynějšího objektu Domova sv. Josefa stávala středověká tvrz, která byla v 17. století jezuity renesančně přestavěna na zámek. V těsném sousedství v letech 1668-1698 vybudovali kostel svaté Anny. Jezuité panství rozšířili, dokonce získali u císaře Leopolda I. povýšení na město. Po zrušení jezuitského řádu r.1773 areál chátral. V 19. stol. po nějakou dobu byl majetkem velkostatkáře Martina Wagnera, jeho syn zděděný majetek prodal jaroměřskému továrníkovi Josefu Ettrichovi. V zámeckém pivovaru pracoval jako účetní pozdější skladatel a hudebník R.A.Dvorský. Od 30. let 20. stol. zámek využívaly sestry řeholnice Nejsvětější Svátosti. Poté, co byly řeholnice nuceny zámek opustit spravoval jej trutnovský ONV, který zde provozoval domov pro seniory. Na začátku 21.století získala objekt Oblastní charita Červený Kostelec, která jej zrekonstruovala a vybudovala v něm Domov sv. Josefa pro lidi s roztroušenou sklerózou.<br>
