<br>Vrtbovská terasová barokní zahrada italského typu byla vybudována v letech 1715-1720 pro Jana Josefa hraběte z Vrtby, nejvyššího purkrabího Pražského hradu. Návrh zahrady byl svěřen pražskému rodáku Františkovi Maxmiliánovi Kaňkovi, který s pomocí sochaře Matyáše B. Brauna (sochařská a plastická výzdoba) a malíře Václava Vavřince Reinera (autor fresek) vytvořili pozoruhodné dílo. Do zahrady vejdeme přes salu terrenu. Ve středu spodní části je malý bazének se sochou puttiho na mořské nestvůře a za ním voliéra. Na střední terase s bazénkem se vypíná vysoká opěrná zeď s dvoukřídlým schodištěm. Najdeme tu řadu soch antických božstev a váz zdobených reliéfy. Směrem vzhůru se zahrada zužuje a v nejvyšší části se nachází oblouková kulisa, v jejíž střední části je pole lemované grottovými mušlemi a obloukovým štítem s reliéfem vodních božstev. Z vyhlídkové terasy je nádherný pohled na Prahu.<br> <br>
