Naše cesta vedla od zvonice kolem Metuje, kde jsme sledovali námluvy kachen, dál kolem krytého stadionu a staré radnice. Novým podjezdem jsme se dostali na výjezdovou silnici směrem na Dobrušku, kde na konci města stojí památná Vojnarova lípa, známá také jako Žižkova nebo Jiráskova. Její výška je 17 m, obvod kmene 560 cm (údaj z r.2009) a v letošním roce jí je 236 let. Je zajímavá atypickým růstem s hustou korunou. Byl jí věnován i prostor v televizním pořadu Paměť stromů (díl č.11). Cestou zpět jsme procházeli lipovou alejí s památnými stromy a nakoukli jsme přes plot do jedné zahrady s rozkvetlými sněženkami a bledulemi. Nakonec jsme se na chvilku zastavili na novoměstském letišti s restaurací, kam v sezóně míří hodně návštěvníků. Z různých míst byl krásný výhled na Krkonoše a Orlické hory.<br>
