Římskokatolický filiální kostel ve Václavicích byl původně postaven ve vsi Dobenín, uváděné v r.1068. Tehdy se tu konal sněm pod širým nebem, na němž byl českými pány proti vůli předsedajícího krále Vratislava II. zvolen pražským biskupem Přemyslovec Jaromír. V době husitské bitvy dne 3.1.1424 byla ves Dobenín zničena a zanikla. Další kruté boje v okolí kostela se odehrály v prusko-rakouské válce r.1866, kdy byl kostel značně poškozen. 140 střel značně zničilo i oltářní obraz sv. Václava. Zásadní obnovu kostela nechal provést v r.1925 Josef Bartoň z Dobenína. Uvnitř kostela je hrobka rodiny Straků z Nedobylic, ve které je snad pochován i purkmistr Straka. Ten nechal zbudovat rybník Rozkoš, který je nyní pod hladinou stejnojmenné přehradní nádrže. Podle pověsti po neshodě se zdejšími sedláky byl po smrti potrestán tím, že s ním oral čert.<br>
