Nedvědice je městys v okr. Brno - venkov v Jihomoravském kraji. Rozkládá se v přírodním parku Svratecká hornatina, asi 14 km od Tišnova. Součástí městyse je také osada Pernštejn. Obec byla pojmenována podle hradu Pernštejn ("Medvědí kámen"), pod nímž leží. V nejstarším dokladu má název podobu s "M" na počátku, jinak je vždy psána s "N". Nejstarší zmínka o ní je z r. 1350, i když je pravděpodobné, že existovala mnohem dříve jako podhradí. V okolí Nedvědice byl od středověku v několika lomech těžen bílý mramor, který byl pojmenován nedvědický mramor. Byl využit na stavbu hradu Pernštejn a řadu dalších staveb v okolí.<br>
